Ralink provides GNU General Public License-licensed drivers for their wireless LAN chipsets. They are also sending patches for upstream rt2x00 kernel drivers and not just dumping a huge, stand-alone tarball driver on the community like they used to.

Works OOTB on Raspberry Pi with Raspbian “Wheezy”. Using rt2800usb kernel module. No powered hub is needed.

Ralink Technology Corp. 802.11n Driver (Here)

1. Compatible with Windows XP:

The Ralink Wireless LAN Driver supports Windows XP, as well as most other operating systems. It allows you to connect your computer to a local or wide area network, allowing you to access the Internet and use e-mail, instant messaging, online chat, and many other applications.

The software is easy to install and requires minimal system configuration. In addition, it scans your system automatically and updates the drivers when they become outdated.

The software comes with a registered version that updates all of your drivers in one go, and a free trial version that will update only one driver at a time.

The company has also begun sending patches to the upstream rt2x00 driver for their new chipsets, rather than dumping huge, stand-alone tarball drivers on the community as they used to do.

This is a big change in attitude and shows that the company is serious about interacting with the Linux kernel community. As such, the open-source community should encourage and support this effort.

2. Compatible with Windows 7:

If you own a notebook PC with Windows 7 installed, it is likely that the wireless LAN adapter in your computer is made by Ralink. This model provides an ideal solution for connecting your laptop to a wireless network, allowing you to easily send and receive files.

The latest driver package enables your system to take full advantage of the networking capabilities built into the device. It resolves various compatibility issues, fixes related errors spotted throughout your device’s usage, adds support for new operating systems, and brings various other improvements.

One of the most important features is that it offers advanced protection against unauthorized access to your computer. It includes a robust firewall and a secure VPN (Virtual Private Network) connection. This feature is especially useful when using a public Wi-Fi network.

It also allows you to connect devices like digital multimedia and handheld PCs. It also supports Gigabit Ethernet connectivity. Jayashree Adkoli is a contributing editor for TMCnet.

3. Compatible with Windows 8:

The latest version of this driver is available from the manufacturer’s website. It is important to keep your drivers up-to-date to ensure that your system is running smoothly and optimally.

Updated drivers may improve stability, increase transfer speed, and fix compatibility issues with various operating systems.

The Ralink USB Driver software is designed to bridge the gap between your computer’s operating system and your Ralink wireless device.

After installation, the software creates a communication path between the two, allowing you to access features like Wireless Utility and internet sharing in no time.

Ralink has been sending patches for their new RT2x00 chipsets to the upstream kernel, rather than just releasing huge stand-alone tarball drivers.

This is a welcome change and shows that they’re willing to work with the Linux community and take the lead in advancing open-source support for their chipsets.

The open-source rt2x00 project is now the primary source of Linux kernel wireless networking support for Ralink’s newest products.

4. Compatible with Windows 10:

If you’re having trouble with your wireless network connection, it could be due to outdated drivers. Fortunately, you can fix it easily by updating your driver software. This will help you connect to the internet faster and avoid problems with your device.

Unlike previous chipsets, which were supported by closed-source drivers, the new Ralink RT2870 supports upstream rt2x00. This is a big improvement and shows a willingness to learn how to work with the Linux kernel community.

The RT2870 supports both dual-band and single-band 2.4GHz WiFi standards, which are both supported by the latest OS releases. It also offers support for AP (ad-hoc) and hotspot modes.

The drivers available for download on the manufacturer’s website are compatible with Windows 10. However, if you have issues, try using a third-party tool such as DriverMax.

This will automatically update your drivers for you in a few seconds. The free version will update one driver at a time, while the registered version will update all of them in a go.
