The Lenovo T490 is an updated version of last year’s T480, with a thinner chassis and 14-inch WQHD display with Dolby Vision HDR. It also features updated NVIDIA MX250 dedicated graphics options.

While the ThinkPad T490 may not be the top-of-the-line model, it’s still an impressive business laptop. Despite losing the hot-swappable battery and optional hard-disk drive (HDD) storage, the T490 is a solid choice for those who don’t need those features.

1. Download and Install the Driver:

If you have a Lenovo T490 and are experiencing WiFi problems, try downloading the wireless driver from the company’s website. This should help fix the problem, but you may also need to do some additional steps.

First, make sure that you’re not in Airplane Mode and that your laptop’s Wi-Fi is turned on. Next, try connecting your device to another Wi-Fi network.

Lastly, try running the Windows troubleshooter for wireless networks and see if it fixes the issue. This will detect any incorrect settings that could be causing the issue and automatically fix them.

However, it’s important to note that these solutions are only a few and are not guaranteed to work for every user. It can take some time to get the right fix for your laptop, so don’t be discouraged if you aren’t seeing results right away.

2. Uninstall the Old Driver:

One of the most basic needs for any laptop is a working Wi-Fi connection. It not only helps you stay connected to your friends and family but also keeps your software and apps updated to their latest version.

But when Wi-Fi stops working on your Lenovo T490, it can be quite frustrating. The good news is that there are a few easy-to-follow steps you can take to fix this problem and get back to using your laptop to connect to the internet again.

First, you should check if you can detect nearby wireless networks. If not, it could be a problem on your network or with the driver installed on your computer.

Another thing you can do is try updating your drivers. You can do this by pressing the Win + X keys and selecting Device Manager.

From there, click on the Sound, video, and game controllers options and right-click on the audio device. Then, select Update Driver. Then, you can let Windows search automatically for the newest drivers.

3. Restart the Computer:

If you are looking to get your laptop back up and running after a hiccup, restarting the computer is the way to go. This will allow your computer to run properly again and you can begin enjoying your new toy.

The first thing you need to do is open up the Device Manager. For this, you will need to press the Win + X keys simultaneously. This will open up a menu that includes many devices and drivers.

In the Windows Device Manager, you will need to find the network adapter. Now, it may be worth your while to look for the newest version of this device.

Once you have found the latest version, you will need to install it on your computer. This should take just a few minutes.

After you have installed this driver, you will need to restart your computer to make sure that the new features work. You may need to do this several times before you see results, so keep that in mind!

4. Reinstall the Driver:

Wi-Fi is one of the most basic needs when using smart devices like laptops. It not only connects you to the internet but also helps keep your software and apps updated to their latest version.

Problems with a wireless network are fairly common among Windows computers and can be caused by a variety of reasons. If your Lenovo T490 isn’t detecting Wi-Fi networks, there are several solutions you can try to fix it.

First, check whether the issue is with your Lenovo laptop or the router. If it’s the former, it could be a hardware or software issue.

If it’s the latter, it could be an issue with your router or ISP. The best way to determine this is to check whether other devices can detect your WiFi network or not.

To do this, press Win + R at once and type in “run.” It will open a Command Prompt window. You can then use this to change the IP address of your computer and try to reconnect to the WiFi network again.
